I use a square bucket and pour out of a corner. Poly should work ok, I am just curious where to put the hard point for the cable, needs to be close to the center of the bottom or top. What were you thinking?

I am not either. Maybe an eye bolt as far away from the large bung hole as far as you can install it. Large washer on each side and double nut w red locktite on the inside. It has to be tough as they will really beat it up.

Do the hogs ever put gashes or holes in the roll barrels from the car wash

There's a baseball sized hole in one of mine. Any ideas?

I have only had one broken, after 3 years it got brittle, no chewing, no gashes, good to go so far.

I have a lot of the 55 gal. poly/plastic drums around. They are all food grade drums that we use for our business. So you just use the 2" bung and a big funnel to fill the drums?

Yes or just pour it in slow from the bag if you forget the funnel.

I didn't know animals as small as coons and squirrels could bite through that

Just think what rats can chew through, coons and tree rats are just as damaging.

OK, these barrels are pretty versatile. They hold almost 2- 50lb bags of corn, made a feeder (lots better than a can feeder)and a roll barrel. I paid $5 each for them(got 7 for now), they are very heavy duty and has dry like fine granule fertilizer in them. A Condo purchasing agent had them they use the product on the lawn I guess. I like the wide mouth screw top, they seal very well and even have a sealing liner under the top.

That's a good deal on some barrels. As long as they hold up well they will be worth it

They are really thick and real sturdy, hoping for the best, I think they will work out great.

For the price, even if they only last a couple months they will be good
