The story about the Sus Venator is interesting. In the time that Rome ruled the world, some Roman legions had the boar as a symbol. So was the Legion XX Valeria Victrix, I Italica and X Fretensis.
How to hunt wild boar was a symbol of courage, eventually some legionaries hunted boar to improve your diet and when they returned with the dead boars were greeted with the words "Ave Sus Venator!".

My first post here after reading for a couple weeks. I don't belong to any blog thingy, facebook stuff but I trap and kill a lot of hogs. This is the biggest hog I have ever seen, had to drag it with my truck to move it. Sorry pictures not so good.
