sure; i figured that with it being muddy it would be a good morning to track the sounder of 42 that has been hitting this dairy's corn bay into the woods. We walked in around 8 am and followed only the freshest trails but eventually lost them down in a deep ravine (~30') that divides the woods. We headed back to the vehicle but stayed close to the ravine in hopes of spotting them below us. We walked that side of the ravine without spotting anything, once we got back to our starting point we started walking the other side of the ravine even though there were no tracks/sign at all. 10 yards in we found a dead baby from last night or this morning (looked just like your pics of chopper, but deader) 20 yards more and we spotted the sounder in thick brush, i shot through the brush at a large pig who had spotted us and they bolted along a cross fence. We ran to a very small nearby clearing and i fired upon them as they were trying to get through the fence. I was very impressed with the quickness of target acquisition with the red dot never having used one before. My friend (still relatively new to hog hunting) was never able to get a shot off with his AR15 and traditional scope. Both hogs were recovered within 40 yds.

Good story. Amazing how 40 hogs can disappear in the brush.

I'm really enjoying walking into the thick briars and woods after hogs lately. I only climbed one tree and I wasn't that scared! Had this sow dying within 15 feet of me at dusk but couldn't see her, finally got down on my hands and knees and caught a glimpse. IMG_20150313_200318.jpg

That was the question going through my mind, but you know I never thought about work even once during the hunt! A success on several levels.

darn thing was grunting and grinding it's teeth enough that I would have bet there were several still within 20 feet. I was doing the old " throw a stick and see what reacts" routine. Really glad someone isn't filming me....

Got these two Friday night. IR Hunter and 6.8. If I can figure how to load the video I will. The blood on the larger hog is from me rolling the smaller one around. Both are neck shots.

That's actually about half of them. They don't seem to be missing any food.
