But I don't know which one.

So I am at home today, trying to stay warm. It is raining mixed with freezing rain and temps are right at freezing. Up at my land in Montague County, same conditions.
Then this picture showed up from my cellular camera...
Cold Hog Water Hole 1.JPG

So I called up my neighbor, Ken, and asked if he was hunting. Some of y'all met him at the Meet and Greet. He said NO and so I told him where there were pigs and he said, "I'll get dressed..."
Then this pic came in...

Don't they look cold and wet? Sheesh I would hate to be out in that stuff right now. These are two of a group of six visiting my place regularly. Little did they know that the Hog QRF was en route when the pic was taken.
Then this pic came in...
PIC (5).JPG

That is Ken, the Hog QRF, on the way back to the truck. He looks as cold and wet as the pigs and shortly thereafter I received the following text...

Hog dead at wtr hole. Going for backstrap.

If there are trophy pics to follow, I will post. AT&T said "Reach out and touch someone" and today I feel like I did just that...and that someone reached out and touched a pig and will be having backstraps for dinner!

DPMS .308.
Shot was about 40 yards through the woods.
Sow ran approximately 50 yards up hill out of the bottoms and left a huge blood trail...which was helpful given that it was raining.
Managed to die about 10 yards into the middle of a briar patch.
Estimated at a bit less than 100 lbs.

Ken said that after he shot, all the other pigs that he had not seen or heard all took off running at the same time, through the brush and up out of the creek bottom. He attempted to follow them in the direction they went, but never caught sign of them again.

We need to talk about the telehunting, can you get pics at night?

The ones my friend had sent pics and video at night. There was also a guy on another forum who had them all over his land. His method of hunting was go to the lease watch TV and sleep in the cabin until he got a pic them he would head off to that feeder and seal the deal.

Itsazonik,

We drive until we get to about 200 yards from the hogs then we stalk in for the kill. Very little walking takes place in my neck of the woods. However, the windows of the truck are down and the heat is only 1-2 degrees above the outside temp to keep the optics from fogging. Its still a little chilly, but keeps us out of the wind and a lot more mobile.
