I have a couple of questions and was hoping to get some guidance from some of the experts on this forum.
I recently rented a thermal unit to hunt in OK. Even though I had issues with the unit, the overall experience was pretty incredible. Since I only get out to my hog hunting area maybe three or four times a year, I didn’t want to break the bank on a thermal. I had zeroed in on the Armasight Zeus 3x, 30hz 42mm. I am shopping around for the best price now but would appreciate any feedback on the unit. I have spoken with Dave and obviously watched the Thermal Comparison video on this site and it seems like a good thermal for the price.
Secondly, I plan on using this new toy over Christmas in Oklahoma but haven’t hunted too much in the winter out there, just a little under a red/green light. The property is mostly ranch land (grazed on or cut back over the spring/summer) with water and pecan trees, no crops. The property line either goes up to similar property or heavily wooded areas hunting pressure is pretty light. We have a couple of feeders. Will hogs still be on the move during the Oklahoma winter? If they are around, they should jump out at me using Thermal, just not sure how much they move in the winter.
Thanks in advance.
