I am planning to upgrade and am deciding between the two above models. The Armasight is around $750 more. Or should I wait for the new 12 um Boson in the 640 by Armasight. That cost will be appreciably more of course. The images of the Pulsars seem to have low contrast when compared to Armasight. Thanks
Armasight 640 75 mm HD vs Pulsar XP50?

I think I've heard the 640 Bosons are projected to start shipping this Christmas. This was from a Flir rep so that could be optimistic. Do you want to make little movies of your hunts? If so on board video of the pulsar would be nice. If it were me, and I didn't have a 640 res scope, I'd probably buy a used Armasight 75 640. They're are some real good deals out there from people panicking, thinking their gear is going to be "obsolete." The Zeus 3 75mm is and will always be a killing machine. Pick one of those up for $4500 or so and you are set. Ok maybe with the boson you will be able to see the hair on a boars nuts instead of just his nuts, but that doesn't interest me.
Maybe in a couple of years each scope will have onboard word processing and cgi capabilities! One could then hunt from the comfort of the living room, creating the pigs you shoot, complete with talking fawns and singing bluebirds!!!
I've heard quite a bit about the new products coming out from Pulsar, but not much about anything else. Of course, I'm probably not in the loop for many of these discussions. Still, what else is happening with regard to thermal weapon sights for civilian use?
New Flir stuff is on the horizon but right now the new pulsar stuff is the current news. It's really good stuff for the money. Trijicon / IRD is the same. Atn is the same. That's about your choices on new stuff. Milspec is all still the same if you're into that stuff.
I had the same question between those 2 models or even the non-HD Zeus. I'm not as excited about video recording but am wondering in the context of calling coyote in cold weather to 200 yds or less & having positive ID, which would have the best image. Because I've only looked through an old Pulsar 38 scope & my pulsar 19a, my experience is limited.
My gut tells me the 3x native mag of the Zeus is better for helping with positive ID than the 1.6x of the XP50 but I'd like to see what you guys think that have looked through both models.
