Apollo Pro 640 50 or 100mm vs Zeus Pro decision help

So I'm fixing to get into a big boy thermal and I've had lots of experience with the Zeus line. Never looked through an apollo though. The idea of being able to combine it with my day scopes is attractive but a feature I don't feel like I'd use all the time. Can you guys give me some guidance on why one would choose one over the other? Is there some advantage to the Zeus over the Apollo? I looked through an ATN taco (I think that's what it's called) and it had a ridiculously tiny display that would make it useless as a standalone. Thanks fellas!

Myron I have been flirting with getting an Apollo for a good while. Lawman has some great videos that make them look pretty awesome. However, the advice I always get is don't, that they are a compromise compared to a dedicated scope. That's all I can offer on that.

I used to hunt with a guy that used a 100mm Zeus. We'd switch guns now and again and he actually preferred my 75mm 640 Zeus and for most hunting situations I agree. When shooting from sticks the weight is mitigated, but it is a very large optic. The fieldof view is better on the 75 as well. It's easier to track running pigs. I still want a 100mm for longer range capability. Those are my thoughts anyway.

I personally prefer the dedicated scope. If you only have one rifle to use day and night then the Apollo is for you.

That makes sense. I've got lots of rifles and several thermals so it's not a one does all situation. Do you get any more useable range out of a clip on? I would think not. I'm good with the repeatability of the Zeus line as well and I usually take my scopes off and store them in pelicans so that's not a factor either.

Apollo and zeus use the same lense and same screen so a zeus 50mm will see the same as the Apollo 50mm. The difference is the Apollo is 1x, no diopter, and the screen is set far in for best image at 3-4x

I believe I'll just go with the Zeus again. Super happy with the PRO line thus far. The reticle selection is legit. This will be my second Zeus Pro as I already own a 50/640.

I agree with lawman. Dedicated day setup and dedicated night set up if at all possible. ZEUS gets my vote
