getting back to your question about a 6x45 for hogs. A few years ago I looked hard at turning a Ruger mini 14 into a 6x45 for hogs. I decided against it. My reason was "all bullets between .25 and .30 calibers kill equally as well." The .243 (6mm) works..if you push big 6mm bullets fast..like from a 308 case....Anyway I decided against it because hogs can get big..and I would not trust a 5.56 case to push a 90gr 6mm bullet hard enough at 150 yard to be reliable on big hogs. That said a 6x45 would be enough gun for me to hunt deer with. And would be fine on hogs up to 150lbs or so..and just the thing for smaller varmits.
