One of the guys I work with loves to hog hunt as much as I do. He hadn't been out of the house in a while, so decided to head out one night in search of pork.
Before I had my thermal and IR units, we took a big rechargeable spot light with us. One would hold it while the other took the shot. It was my turn to shoot, but for some reason, I took a .223 that night. We walked trail to the to corn pile and used the spot light over the small clearing where we put the corn. We saw about 10 smaller hogs and this big boy. My friend was telling me to take the shot, but since I had a .223 and he had a .45-70, I told him we needed to switch. We quietly exchanged the shooting sticks and the spot light. He dropped this boar with one shot to the hog's left shoulder.
He weighed 265 lbs at the processor.
