I am looking hard at the Vortex Viper 1-4X PST MOA and would like to hear of any experience you might have with this scope and reticle. Would like to have the 1-6X Razor but trying to save money for night vision so will have to be happy with a scope and mount that comes in under $500.-. Would the reticle be functional for use with night vision? Is the illumination visible in sunny day light?

U won't need an illuminated reticle on your day scope when used with high quality night vision looking behind it. My leupold VXR with fire dot illuminated reticle has several brightness settings. The dimmest can't be seen if the sun is out and the brightness creates too much glare on dark nights. I think the illuminated reticle would work best under a full moon, under a feeder with lights and/or in conjunction with a red/green gun mounted light. Check out these links. They should help point u in the right direction getting started.

i just got the razor....its great, My viper...not so much. the quality of the glass is miles apart. Put the viper on my .22, it works, but the clarity isn't there. It works, but I've been spoiled since I got my schmidt and bender 5x25. We might become a vortex dealer pretty soon...If I could get you a razor for under $1100 would you be interested. Our initial order to become a dealer is $5K....If I get enough for the initial order I would let um go at our cost plus 2% (cover our costs)

For the money it's a nice scope. I have mine on a 300 blkout and it work good with my pvs14. I have several nicer scopes they cost a lot more. If you have a budget of $500 then I don't think you will be disappointed.
