Storm Sow

Went out last night ahead of the storms. I figured that based on current speeds, I could have had as much as 3 hours of hunting time. It turned out to be a good bit less. I got onto hogs and had a tough shot and as I waited for a particular sow to move into the clear, the rain picked up. Just a couple of minutes after the shot, the whole field lit up with a lightning flash and I realized I needed to get back to the truck as quickly as possible. Storms were moving SW-NE and this is what the lightning ground strike patterning looked like relative to where I was...

So I boogied out of there as fast as I could and never got to inspect the downed hog. :-( But I am sure it was dead...

Glad you got her before the storm hit. Not good to be out playing in the lightning! And good hunting discipline. Glad I don’t have to worry about livestock anymore. Good shooting!

Hope you didn't get TOO wet in that effort.
Nice shot on the sow, definitely a good one to take out.

Good hog down!! And yes, don't blast at runners through brush. Sometimes I've seen them run into the brush and jump deer up, sometimes my heart races when I see that.

Should'a dipped that bullet into some hot sauce... season her up for the TBPS's benefit. Good call on holding fire. Wish more people in the woods would use a little common sense.
