Soybean field hogs

There’s a large sounder in an irrigated soybean field last night. Beans are about knee high and we are driving to get closer to them into a stiff wind. We’re confident they will not hear us approach.

Problem is there is a lone boar by itself and the rest of the hogs are essentially in one large group another 250 yards upwind of that one.

We decided that because we had such a nice wind to shoot the first hog with my 9mm carbine to avoid spooking the rest of the hogs.

My IRD 35 mm is currently on my 9mm and I didn’t have any way to video with it.

That one went down like a hammer and the rest of the hogs only moved slightly from the shot and commotion. The plan worked.

A short walk back to the truck and switch out rifles back to my 308 for the larger group.

My first thre shots were all hits. I watched the video several times and think I saw four more go down during the melee.

Hogs goin' down... life is good.

This was a fun hunt. The beans were a little tall to see them flipping around on the ground in the video but I’d catch a glimps of them every now and then.

Rolling rolling rolling, those shot piggies are a rolling!
