So 10 days before last night's hunt, I hunted my place with the last of some ammo I was testing for Shooter. I was trying to get a 2fer and failed twice. On the first pair of hogs, they never lined up and were skittish and just left for no apparently reason I could discern. These were boars. I did manage to drop this sow...
I filled feeders yesterday and checked the game camera and I still had 3 hogs showing up, a single and a double. So I stayed to hunt. The pair came in and appeared to be the two boars that beat me last time, still a bit skittish, but not as much so.
They didn't want to line up for a 2fer again either, so I opted for a quick double, barely missing the 2nd hog (determined later), but thought maybe he was wounded as a result at the time and unloaded several rounds into him to drop him before he got very far. I never heard a single round hit him, but when I recovered him, he had 12 external wounds (could not ID many as to entry or exit and gave up trying). That isn't how I want to take down a hog, but I didn't want a wounded hog to get away. They may have beat me last time, but not this time...
