Well that fixed that problem. Way too go! You should have went with a belt-fed.
 
Well buying a new rifle instead of fixing a small problem is a bit radical but the new rifle is purdy. The bet continues with the original rifle...jam jam

i just happen to have a spare 6.8 i can fix u up with. gently used. never fired more than 2 or 3 shots at a time. why don't you send that little hottie girlfriend of yours out here to pick it up.

you're going to have to show me that pecker scarred hiney of yours first so i'll know what i'm getting in to.

couple patches through the barrel before the hunt and then i figure i shot about 85 or 90 rounds including sighting in. thought i'd better clean it before going out again. shells in the mag were horrible, so i was expecting the rest to be pretty bad too. not so. nothing on the bolt or carrier that wouldn't wipe off. barrel and chamber needed some cleaning, but nothing out of the ordinary. came with an h2 buffer. seemed a little clunky but it works so i'm not complaining. and the 30 round pmag... niiiiice.

DJ, another string of impressive videos.

I picked up LWRC 6.8 a while back for the lighter recoil as compared to the .308, but after watching your video, I'm wondering if I should have just stuck with the .308. It looks you hit one of the hogs 6 times with the 6.8 before he dropped for good.

Any thoughts of going back to the .308?
 
i've given the 308 lots of thought. i think the numbers, for what that's worth, suggest the 6.8 has 80% of the effectiveness (or something like that) of the 308. not sure what that means or how it's derived. it's certainly a good killer of coyote sized game. but assuming that means killing ability on hogs sized game then i guess i'm losing one fifth of the hogs i shoot. usually the first hog shot goes down so that doesn't matter. once they start running it's usually a crap shoot. if you're sniping one or two from a blind or under a feeder it probably won't matter. for my hunting the 308 is tough to beat.

when i had so many problems with the first 6.8 jamming i thought about going back to the 308 many times. 10 years ago i wouldn't even have considered anything less. even though i'm not toting it over hills or anything, aches and pains make every pound count now. i've never liked the 223 for a dedicated hog gun. you see how many run off all shot up with larger calibers so the 223 just doesn't make sense to me for mass killing - no matter what bullet is coming out of it.

i also noticed the vids coming from 6.8 shooters. the screen looks less disrupted from recoil compared to the 308 and i thought that might translate to faster followup shots. i'm not sure that i notice it under fire though. finally, even though the 308 has been very loyal, it's impossible for a man like me to be faithful to just one gun. i probably should have switched back when the jamming started costing me hogs, but the allure of a new gun was too powerful; kinda like a new girlfriend. sometimes beauty makes you overlook a certain amount of temperament... until you come to your senses.

oh yea... and the high capacity mags!!!!! (that is... when the gun works)

I watched a video this morning of a guy perched on a bank shooting a hog with a .50 cal Barrett. The hog went down but after scanning around and not getting a follow up shot...that hog was still down there kicking like a lesser cal. had connected. Hogs are just tough.
 
Heck ya!! The first ones looked like an arcade game, back and forth back and forth. Then one had a facet open and one had rear gear troubles!!! Heck you have it all in those videos!!! Nice going. You better buy cases and cases of ammo!! Fun stuff and squealin like a porker!!! BANG BANG!!
 
I see a lot less recoil jump in your videos when using the 6.8. Now that you're not fighting the jams, I think you're gonna like that 6.8 more and more. Lighter, as you mentioned 80% (ish) of a .308's power, less recoil...
