MN Guy Hooked On Hog Hunting

Been reading many posts and still not 100% decided what to buy. For the thermal scopes I am leaning towards the Armasight Brand. Do I need a 60hz over a 30hz. I will be shooting a 300 Blackout so my range plans to be 100yds and closer. So what size is recommended? Also looking for ideas for night vision monocular set up? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! I have an ATN thermal monocular and LOVE it!

In my brief experience, the 30 does just as well as a 60, but I've had limited time behind the thermals. People on this site have much more experience than me so I'm hopeful others will chime in.

I have hunted by Lovelady the last three years. I also hunted by west of San Antonio. I am learning every time so learning from this sight is great.

you hunt by Lovelady, and you're from Minnesota? Do we know each other? I'm from Minnesota, and Lovelady.

My brother went to school at A&M and met a friend who's parents have a cattle ranch. It's about 2 miles north of lovelady

What is normal battery life usually? If I am looking to shoot 100yd and closer most of the time what mm should I be looking at also

Stay away from 60hz it isnt worth the battery drain. however 640 res is much better then 320. Inside 100 yards just about any thermal on the market will give ya what ya want. I hunt areas where I can see out 1000 plus yards. I can identify with my 42 mm zues at 320 res out to 400 - 500 yards depending on humitity. On a night it just rained or heavy fog 100 yards.

What part of MN do ya hail from?

I think it is due to them being first to release their new units, they have always been an affordable option and not have 640 units
