.....cause I'll never shoot one bigger that this.
I went out to a property that I've been hunting for a few months now. It's a four sq mile box cut out of a wildlife refuge loaded with hogs. The farmer has the entire thing planted with soybeans. I've probably shot at least 100 there by now.
Most of the sounders come out of the southern woods and are easy to pick off with the predominate southern winds. I hardly ever see any on the northern edge of the field. This night was different. I spotted a super hot spot about 900 yds out and rode the four wheeler within 300 before getting out to stalk. I was convinced it was a bear. Especially after all the bear tracks I've been seeing.
The wind was terrible for my stalk and I only dared get about 150yds before setting up the sticks. I watched for at least a minute before being convinced it was a hog. My buddy and I counted down and put six rounds of 120sst in him within a few seconds. Once up close he required a couple more.
I have no clue how much this one weighed. I will say it was very tough for my Rancher 420 to drag it out of the beans.
