Same distance, though my hog was about 30 lbs heavier...
Spent the evening getting prepped for shooting a hog in the field my blind was in...as that was where the recent hog sign was, but on making my normal rounds, spotted a hog @ 230 yards yards at another feeder and made an uphill stalk to about 120 yards to the base of another blind where I used the ladder for a rifle rest. The winds were blowing pretty good, from the hog toward me. Though he probably could have seen me if he would have looked, there was no way he was going to smell or see me with the winds blowing like they were. Looks like I got there just in time. There was no corn on the ground that I could see when I went to recover the hog.
Am testing 129 gr. Nosler Accubond LR bullets now. After two head shot hogs, I can't say I am terribly impressed. They work fine, undoubtedly work as designed, but have not caused the massive, nearly explosion-like tissue damage often seen with Hornady SST 123 gr. or Berger VLD-Hunting 130 gr. ammo I have used previously. Granted, I am only two hogs into this new round and both were head shots. I need some neck and shoulder shots to round out the assessment.
