From the mouths of babes (who cares if he's 14)

We went to Chester's burgers for lunch.

While there a guy walks in with a huge airborne and AA, 82nd All American, patch on a leather vest.

He also had a combat vet patch on and a Shelby cobra shirt.

He was with a friend and they had a beer each.

I noticed they were low and the wife wanted more tea. So I went up and picked up 2 beers and tea.

Went to their table and thanked them for their service and dropped off the beers.

The wife was like, what was the for.


She isn't what you call observant of things.

So I told her she would never understand, and left it at that.


We got home and she asked why I did that again, my son said,

"Oh my god mom, didn't you see his vest?

It said combat vet."


That made me proud that he noticed that and understood.

I'm not military my self, but dad is and we live In military city USA.
So I am glad he understands and pays attention.
Really brought a tear to my eye !

I was standing behind 03 Seattle cops just before Christmas, shook all three of their hands and thanked them for what they'd do. They were like WTF??? But, they smiled.

Once in a while, while hanging out at an airport, I'll buy a beer for a uniformed soldier travelling. Ya find folks from all over.
