Got a text from Kay Love....ranch owner's name...said hogs coming to calf feed. I decided to grab the new 6.8 and give it the first go. So I arrived and set up, by set up, I mean I unfolded a chair and sat next to her barn. Rough.
Hogs were not coming early like she said so I walked up to the fence and scanned the pasture just before dark with my scope. Wish I had the Gopro or something better...here comes a nice boar running past at about 125 yds with his nose glued to the ground...I grunted but he would not stop and was getting further away. Figured I better take the shot....Whack, that unmistakable thud! He ran like a scalded rabbit for about 20 yds and then did a complete back flip in mid air and dropped, strangest flip I ever saw! So the 6.8 went through both shoulders and must have fragmented somewhere inside and blew through next to his nuts..or ah testicles for those of you who ain't redneck. Anyways, it was rewarding to have a successful first kill. Picture's not so good but that's all I have.
