I was out at my usual spot on a beautiful day in mid-April. My feeder had quit working, but I got that figured out (two dead batteries - what are the odds?) so I decided I would wait around and see if any hogs would show. Around 9:30PM I heard what sounded like something snorting from the south. There were cattle in the area, but I'd watched them settle down behind me (to the east) a few hundred yards away. I thought maybe they were moving again, so I got up to check on the noise. I got up and walked around a Youpon bush that I used as camouflage, and spotted a dozen hogs heading my way. They were coming from the downwind direction, so I wasn't expecting to see anything there. I knew I wouldn't have much time before they detected my scent. I moved to a new position quickly, took aim, and nailed a 145# boar just about directly between the eyes.
Not a lot of actual hog video. I had to set up and shoot quickly. I barely had time to turn on the video recorder.
