Well,
It looks like the same sounder came out last night around 3AM. They were up at the front gate which meant about an 800 yards stalk. We have a street light between the two houses and I was going to be intermittently silhouetted so I had to take my time. Wind was not a factor but the air was wet which cut down on some of the clarity.
I was thinking it was the same sounder because I saw what looked to be the same fat sow who looked like she just dropped a litter. Most of the group got a little spooked and went to the other side of the gate, I scan over there at around time :50. She was over there and I figured I had a better chance engaging the ones on my side.
Dropped the boar with a good shot to the shoulder. If I had know he was as stout as he was, I would have tried a neck shot. Follow on shots weren't that great but I did get a hit on one of the followup shots. Pig made it into woods and I wasn't going in after her, may check later.
Not great shooting, but I was asleep just 20 minutes prior. I again made the mistake of being too zoomed in. After I stalked in a little more with my eye on the boar, another pig walked out from behind a tree.
Boar was thicker than the one I got the night before (taped at 230#) but wasn't as long, so I would guess he weighed less. Did have bigger cutters though. You can see shot impact in last photo, I am guessing went through the front part of shoulder and then did its magic. 120 grain SST, love them.
Hog donated to the buzzards. He looks shorter in the night shot then he does when I am loading him up. That is a six foot bucket.
