So I love my 338 spectre. I have been shooting it a lot and creating the perfect load. I just picked up some midway blems and worked up a couple accurate loads for it. I finally got a chance to shoot them into something to see how they perform. Well they don't. All it did was break off the polymer tip. Anyone know bullets that will expand at low speeds for a 338?

Here is a recovered bullet after shooting through books. Also shot a few I to water jugs and they look the same.

that sucks, why slow are you suppressed and sub sonic?

It's actually shooting right between 1100 and 1300 depending on bullet weight

I don't know anything about it so have no idea

The problem is the 338 bullets are designed for the magnums

Isn't the .338 federal a "non-magnum" round and therefore slower?

The 338 federal is running like 2500fps. Most of the bullets will open at that speed

I got you. That's still faster than I was expecting for that large of a bullet.

It's a 10mm magnum brass. Runs a 6.8 bolt
