After hunting a stand till late, I made my walk back to camp passing by a long abandoned pecan orchard. Through my PVS-7 I could make out a lone boar rootin' up under the trees. Waist high broomweed was bad on me for two reasons, 1) it limited a quiet stalk, and 2) it put a serious glare in my Photon XT when using the IR. I offhanded a shot and the boar bolted. Yep, I completely missed. Next day I checked the camera from the stand I hunted and 30min after I made my missed shot, that boar ran straight to that feeder and ate corn for 20min.
2nd night, I setup on the same feeder and about an hour after dark I spot him coming in. He was on pins and needles already, so I took the only shot I had, an only slight quartering facing shot. 120SST entered on the edge of the front shoulder and never exited. The boar let out a growl and ran approx 20 yards. Judging by trailcam photos I expected a 150lb boar, but was surprised when he tightly taped to 195lbs.
