That shot was taken @ 4x, so - 6x magnification, correct? That's about what I would expect when you cut the screen resolution to 25%. That probably isn't the ideal video for people to be basing their clarity determinations on.

I've had one on order for almost 2 months now. I don't think FLIR has sent any out to dealers other than the demo units that a few have gotten.

Anybody actually see one of these in the field yet? I am seeing them start to show up on websites (UNV, Kenzie's, Optics Planet), but nobody shows any in stock. I'm kinda leaning toward the Trail XP50, but I don't want to be a beta-tester, either...

The muzzle velocity, bullet drop, and energy charts don't bear that out. There is about 200fps difference with identical loads (regardless of the load) when fired with 9" and 16" barrels, and about a 200ftlbs energy difference. Not that it "should" be done, but it definitely "can" be done. I watched a video the other day of a guy dropping pretty decent pigs DRT with 22LR subs. Not 100yd shots, not moving, and obviously shot placement is key. Surely a 300 super with the 125 SST's is exponentially better than that...

Optics Planet shows them "in stock" at $3,299. Not sure if that will be the standard, as I don't see anybody else stocking them yet.

Sorry, I misread your question. The new "Apex XQ's" appear to be identical to the discontinued "Apex XD's". Although, they appear to actually be cheaper by a few hundred dollars. The "LRF XQ's" have a built in laser rangefinder, which might explain a price difference. Otherwise, I'm not sure...

The Trail XP's are 640 units. The Trail XQ's are the 384 units. Other than the built in recorder, the Trail models also have removable battery packs, and quick detachable mounts. There may be some other differences, also.
