I would recommend playing the "it is for the safety of dog card" when you negotiate next for the more expensive unit. I personally use the "it will be useful in the zombie apocalypse card" with my wife.

I would warm up those negotiating skills. Buy the best unit you can and do not settle on a cheaper unit. You will spend less money and get the greatest benefit in the long run. Be nice to the wife!!!!
