I've entered the dark side - thermal vision!!! Bit the bullet and ordered a Pulsar Trail XP50 on Black Friday last year. It finally arrived on Jan. 5. Mounted it on my good old Ambush 6.8 rifle. Sighted it in Saturday morning and took it out that evening. I sat in my favorite hide facing a blustery south wind. I was fiddling with my phone when a solitary hog came in from my left, sniffed around a bait block for a few minutes then looked straight at me and wandered out of sight about 5:45. Then thirty minutes later he reappeared and went to the feeder tube 75 yds straight ahead of me. My first shot with the thermal sight struck in the lower neck and it was DRT from the SST bullet. Luckily a buddy was still deer hunting and I was able to call him to come help me load him up in the truck. The scope is such a game changer but like a noob rookie I forgot to press Record!!

Anyhow I had a very happy New Year and wish everyone well!

Interestingly that indentation on his back was where he must of been grazed by a bullet once before. Had a quarter size scab on it.

Way to go man! I picked up my RXQ back last May and I can remember the first night out like it was yesterday. Can't quite figure it out, but seeing a hog come in with day glass doesn't elevate my heart rate at all I just go into 'this clown is down' no more corn stealing for you. With thermal it's just so dang cool the novelty effect maybe hasn't worn off I still get that excitement every time. When I light them up I get SO pumped and then the stalking begins and as fun as that is I still haven't even flipped the safety off!

Welcome to the addiction! I think thermal is like the mafia...once you are in it's for life only one way out now. I notice something now with many of the hogs you TX boys shoot. Some long hairy mofos that thing of yours looks like my neighbors Golden Retriever with his fur. All our hogs look like they have a crew cut I've yet to find a hog with that thick looking matted down mess here in FL.

The scope is such a game changer but like a noob rookie I forgot to press Record!!

Remembering to hit record is such a simple thing to do, yet can be incredibly hard to remember to do in the excitement of the moment.

HOWEVER, the Pulsar has a recoil activated record function if you have it fully updated. Press and hold the same button used to record and to switch between still images and video, and the third option will have a bullet pop up and that is the recoil activated record feature. I have not used it myself, but have seen where others have. It will give you something like 3 seconds of video from before the shot and a bunch after the shot. It will cut down on the need for memory and will document your kill, but not much more than that.

Congrats and good job for your first kill. I know it was exciting!

Yes I read about that option in the manual and was wondering how it worked out for people. I'll give it a try sometime. NOW if Pulsar could just get that microphone to work!

Congratulations on your hog! In the excitement of the hunt I was always forgetting to press record. I have been using the recoil activated video and it works great. I think it keeps running for a couple minutes after the shot so if you can remember to turn it off after your shot you will save having to edit that out later. Good luck!
