Nikon sent back my scope today. No charge. That's nice. I was hoping for a new scope in the back of my mind but they said they repaired (checked) this one and returned it.
Because it is the same one, I am hesitant to use it again and go through the whole deal if it is not right. They did not say what they did actually or if any failure was found is my concernNikon Scope returned 001.JPG . Any opinions?

Hmmm...

"Cleaned lens element, checked windage and elevation, adjusted collimation,
supplemented nitrogen". Does sound kinda vague.

You're not the first shooter to question what Nikon actually did to their "repaired" scope:

Having that factory repair sheet should get you a better price...

The important thing, though, is that we finally have the address of the Snake Farm to ship any orphaned critters we run across.

It's going bye-bye tomorrow along with another Nikon P223 in a straight 3x I just bought. Can't see out of the thing, both are inferior quality products in my opinion. There really is nothing impressive about either of them. I know--have to spend some dough to get good stuff.

I've got a first run Pro Staff 3-9 that has been on: muzzle loader, several AR 15's, AR 10, .270 and now a .308 bolt. Thing is crazy reliable sorry you had a bad experience. On the flip side my Vortex Diamondback HP had a lens come loose on the 3rd time out luckily still in the Amazon return window thus avoiding getting a repaired one back or waiting was only down 2 days. Sounded like a coffee can with 2 dimes in it rattling around. I wanted to give them another shot as I have 2 friends with the exact 4-16 and they love theirs so ordered again hopefully not to my regret I plan on taking it out this evening. If this one poops the bed Vortex is out for good and I'll give Nikon another shot, but with less confidence reading your issue.

If it makes you feel any better that 'stuff just breaks sometimes' no matter who makes it. One of my pals just received his VX 6 3-18 back for the second time for loose internals:/

Might be me but 4 Nikon's and Nikon binos and all are unclear or hazy to my eye. The one wouldn't keep zero

Oooh well yea that is a horrible track record for sure. Time to move on to some higher quality glass if they aren't clear enough for your liking becuase life is too short to not look through glass you like! I loved the image quality of my Vortex while it lasted:/ Hope I don't regret going back to them. I will say the bino image on Vortex has blown me away can't recall which model, but my buddy's is like watching HD tv looking though it to my eye might want to give them a look

I have that same scope and hate it. the turrets move every time I put it on the seat or in and out of a case. it has been in a desk drawer for a year two as a result. on the flip side I have 3 Monarchs that I have owned for years that are great.

Suss, I'm not worthy to carry your extra mags. Besides, you have been killing about 800 hogs a week, I am a little intimidated, that and the fact that you teach those kids karate and judy chops and stuff.

I chose not to utilize the warranty b/c the fastest way for me to get another one back on the rail was to return via Amazon and order up another with 1 day delivery. I was looking at 7-10 days with returning it to Wisconsin, resolving and back to me. I decided to give Vortex a shot b/c of that very warranty reputation and I spoke with a great agent about the issue at Vortex. No doubts there were willing and happy to step up it was just a time crunch issue for me to either make or miss my next hunt.
