I sold my back up thermal scope to a buddy this week and now am shopping for another model.

I am looking at staying with a 336 core it makes no sense to have a high dollar 640 scope as back up spending most of its time in the safe.

I think I will go with a bigger lens to have higher magnification for longer ranges since my go to scope is a 2X 640 model.

Has anyone here used the Zeus 42mm or 75mm 336 core models and have any feedback? I thought about buying the 75mm mainly to just have different for long range viewing/shooting. I know its going to have a small FOV but I always have a thermal mono with me 1X or 2X for scanning.

If going 336 core I suggest the 75mm lense to help with clarity in poor thermal weather conditions.

I already owned and sold a W-1000 thermal scope its a very solid performer just alittle large in size for my personal taste.

Right now its looking like the Zeus 336 42mm maybe my choice it's just the best deal price vs performance in a 336 scope category . The 75mm model is around a $1000 more and while I would love to have the bigger 75mm lens I have to remember this is a back up/limited use scope for me.

Forget everything I said above I placed a order for a IRD Reap-IR.

So much for back up my THOR 640 may become the new back up now. LOL

I use both very regularly. The 75mm has a slight edge on identifying stuff at a further distance but with the 42mm lens on a night with decent conditions, I have no problem identitying hogs at 800 or so yards.
336 42mm is an awesome scope for the money. If I were to be buying a backup, it'd be that. Or possibly even the predator.

Ha, I may be looking for new friends and place to live if my wife opens the Reap-IR package before I can get to it!

Like most married men I have a elaborate system of saving, moving and hiding money and then under value everything I own when I have to account for it.

There's a quote that I'm sure I will butcher here, but it goes something like "The biggest fear in my life is that after I die, my wife will sell all my guns for what I told her I paid for them."
