Yesterday was Talon’s 12th birthday. We usually go bowfishing, but decided to hog hunt this year. We found hogs on the first place we checked. They were in a spot we’ve not seen them in before, bad thing is they were mixed in with cattle. This makes it tough to get more than one, Talon pulled it off though and almost got a triple. We finally got into position and waited for the cattle to move out of the way. Talon picked out the biggest sow in the clear and dropped her right there! The others scattered in the best direction they could have for us and he was able to drop another one. On our way back to the truck to get the camera we spotted a rat. Talon wanted to try and shoot it with his new air rifle. He did it! Now it’s Jayden’s turn. The last field we checked on the next place had a small group of boars in it. We snuck up on them and Jayden dropped a red spot boar. Now it’s moms turn. We were half way through the next place before we spotted two big sows with little pigs eating on a dead cow. There was a third hog in the brush near by and Michelle opted to shoot it. We waited for an eternity for a shot. When the hog finally offered the shot another hog spooked and blew the shot for us. We were just about to leave the last field of the night {or should I say morning} when we spotted 16 hogs grazing across a field. Michelle dropped a sow then took a little boar as it ran to our left. Michelle handed me the rifle and I double tapped a hog running to our right. Now for the dirty work! Good thing I can dress a hog in 10 minutes huh! 4 a.m.
