Baiting recipes

Hey everyone,

I would like to know if there are any special baiting recipes for hogs. I have heard of Corn mixed with Koolaid, Corn mixed with diesel, heck even read in one of FrankT's posts about using dry dog food. If anybody got some really stank recipes the hogs seem to love please do share.

I use a 42 ounce bottle of Steel Reserve malt liquor along with the water, sugar and yeast. Really makes a good stink when it sits in the heat awhile. It’s like $2.79 a bottle so doesn’t add much to the cost.

In this heat corn and kool-aid powder with about 2" of water over the top is fine.

Just use a bucket with a lid and leave it in the sun for 72 hours. It'll stink quite well, and the deer seem to like it at that stage as well.

I've also had good luck using Reich's grape drink powder.

About 1/2 a kool-aid container to 50lbs of corn.

Nothing magic about making stinky bait.

I stole a bunch of the 5 gallon tubs from the water cooler when I lived in SC. Made it real convenient to haul them around. I’d throw a bunch of stuff in them and let it sit for weeks. It worked well for me.

I bet the recycling guy loved you when you finally returned them.

Over the years I've tried just about everything - from diesel soaked corn, to jello coated corn, fresh roadkill (!), fermented mixtures (yuck). Didn't seem to matter - they aren't too picky. In the fall, I'll substitute acorns for the corn. The commercial stuff you see in the feed stores doesn't justify the cost. Overall, I get plenty of hogs with whole corn straight from the bag.
