Deer/Coyotes React to Hog Decoy, Hog DOWN!

I went out Monday for several hours making my circuit through my landowner properties and hit this place twice. I saw nothing but deer and the owner's dog. The next day I got a text showing where hogs had torn up the front yard sometime overnight. ERRRRRR! So I just camped out there for Wednesday.

I set up hog decoys and sprayed them down with sow in estrous urine lure. I set up down wind. I was at the top of the hill on the property. It was really dark with a tiny moon and lots of clouds. I had my favorite chair and a couple of bottles of water and was ready for whatever came.

Well, about an hour into it, my 10 year old favorite chair broke. The hog decoys got the attention of deer and coyotes, but nothing amazing happened with the hog that eventually showed up. He came in within about 20 yards of one of the decoys, but showed no recognition that it was there before I shot him.

He was a decent sized boar and may have done a bunch of the rooting, but I found tracks for some much smaller hogs, so there is probably a little sounder using the place as well. I just didn't see them...yet.

You stayed out a long time for only one hog. I would have given up when my chair broke. I know this because it happened to me last fall. Lol

I hated the idea that I got beat on Monday and the hogs damaged the property, right in the front yard! So I was going to stay until I got some blood and if they didn't show Wednesday, I was going to be back on Thursday. Now, I will just be catching up on my sleep. ;)

Way to hang in there. I can’t sit that long anymore. Good head shot!

A shame to waste a pair of prairie poodles like that. They need killin'. A man NEEDS a good sittin' tool when in the field. A mess of hogs need to pay for the loss of that important piece of kit! No Chair-cropsy pix for us?

Got a text from the landowner. The landowner liked the video and gave me permission to hunt any nuisance animals that I see (mountain lion, coyote, armadillos, etc.).

As for the chair, no chair-cropsy performed. It was one of those collapsing camp chairs and it was apparent that this was an old age issue. Surprisingly, it was metal fasteners that failed before the fabric failed. Next of kin were notified and a nonceremony was held when it was placed into a City of Denton Solid Waste & Recycling urn for eventual burial expected to be on Tuesday shortly after regular pickup.

I see some dead Robert Kitties in your future once again! Prairie Poodles beware... Pew-Pew Brain HAS been released!

So? Yer gonna have to dust off the inside of your wallet and part with some funds to replace ol' faithful, eh? Or, you could do like me, and justify the purchase of a $100 tool, to fix a $10 chair. LOL (Ok, somewhat of a tool-whore)

I thought about trying some FiberFix repair tape, but I don't think it would work for this repair. I have already invested in a couple collapsible stools that I sometimes use as chairs. I also use them to go over tight barbed wire fences. They will probably do until I can find a suitable replacement for longer nights. The stools are good for short periods, but not an all nighter, LOL.

Brian - Any chance you have a pair of trees at your all nighter spot ? - Hammock maybe??

My friends are somewhat more polite, referring to me as a "Tool Collector" (when they're not simply calling me a Tool).
And, WHO do they call when something breaks? LOL
