IR Hunter question

I too have this question, & what are people using for the rear (eyecup, Butler, etc)?
Well, it would depend on which IR Hunter you are talking about. However, measure the outside diameter of the housing around the lens and find the closest size in a Vortex Defender is my suggestion. The only down side is that they use a stretchy rubber. I anchor mine with a zip tie.
I have an IR Hunter MK2 35mm. Ultimate Night Vision recommends a Vortex Defender #56 for the objective lens, and that's what I got. It's a somewhat tight fit, but it works all right. I reserve the right to switch to something else at any time I find something better for an eyepiece lens item. I'm holding it on with a zip tie and so far it's much better than nothing.
Edited to add: I shoot an AR-10 so I was worried that the standard shuttered eye cup might not provide sufficient distance between the eyepiece and my eye. I didn't try it 'cuz I didn't want to suffer the consequences if my fears were realized. The standard item might work just fine. If anyone else is using it with an AR-10 I'd be interested to hear about it.
