Ear shots... my dad told me about his dad (hunting bears in the Alaskan arctic) telling him "shoot 'em in the ear". Gramps used a rolling block single shot .22. With no disrespect in my voice, my reply to dad was: "Gramps was nuts." LOL But, that's all he had in those days and you waited for the spring barge to arrive to bring ammunition, so nothing was wasted just shooting at paper. To the day he died, dad would enjoy coming to the range to watch us shoot, but he wouldn't waste ammo on paper. My old Ruger 3-screw .44 killed a bull moose fired from dad's hand (iron sights). He knew how to tickle a trigger.
Gramps would hand my dad the gun and and three shells and tell my dad he wanted two ducks. Dad always tried to bring home two ducks and two live shells.
