Decided I needed to increase on hand loads for the 458SOCOM yesterday. Finished them up this AM. 300 rounds loaded with 325gn HDY ftx. Lots of fun there.

Decided to finish up and load all my empty brass. More FTX's and HDY 300gn JHP

I did. Going to use them on the boat. Make nice handholds. Used a golf ball size wiffle ball inside.

That's a cool pic! I believe its the same bullet Hornady uses in factory loads for my Marlin 1895M (.450 Marlin) which is awesome to shoot. However I haven't taken a hog or deer with it yet - need to rectify that this winter. I would like to try a .458 Socom if I ever get the chance...

Don't go knocking turkeys, they are my favorite animal to hunt. I think hunting elk during bugling season would be better, but I've never done that. Hopefully one day, it will happen.

I just received a new chamber gauge from Tromix today. They have a cut-away so you can see how your cartridge fits in the properly reamed chamber. Here is a couple shots with these rounds.

It really helps to identify possible problems. Not just the case does not fit but why it does not fit. Is the bullet set too long? Has it been over-crimped? Is the shoulder set back far enough or too far? etc etc etc.... I wholeheartedly recommend this tool. Wish I had purchased one a long time ago.
