My daughter's first night time kill

On my way home from my epic hog killing journey, I stopped to visit my Daughter near Abilene. She told me that there was a sounder that has been coming around the house nightly so after dinner we went outside to look around. There wasn't much chance of seeing anything around the house because of the dense mesquites so I suggested we go down to the bottom pasture and see what was going on. On the way in, I saw that the neighbor who leases the bottom to grow sorgham hay had mowed around the field about 50 yds wide. BINGO!! There were hogs EVERYWHERE. They were spread out all the way around the field and filtering in and out of the standing hay. The first ones we were able to get set up on there was a large boar that my daughter wanted to take out first so that is where the video picks up. After that, my daughter was able to get her first kill with night vision but I had battery failure in my scope so I didn't get the video. She did a great job and put a round right in the head just under it's ear. The second half of the video is where I called some hogs from across the field and was able to get two. One made it into the standing hay and was found the next day.

Awesome! I was able to watch sort of the same thing last night with my buddy we took his daughter out for her first hog kill. SUCH a fun time to watch them....as if shooting hogs at night wasn't fun enough already?

Yeah, we actually hit two in the first group and two in the second group. My daughter raises pigs and when I told her I was going to call them with a piglet in distress call she said I was crazy. She said she knows what the sows do when they come running. I said that's what I wanted she really thought I was out of my mind. She wouldn't get out of the jeep on that last set.

No, she is a typical daughter and resorts to hinting that dad should supply her with one.
She hasn't yet learned that menzs don't do "hints" all that well? LOL

Great job you two. That hay field sure has a lot of hogs coming to it. Any idea when you will make it out this way again?

No, but I have to make a trip soon. I have a leather recliner to bring to Christina, but I have to wait for a chance when there is no chance of rain. That hasn't been possible lately. I'm afraid the hogs will try to get into the hay bales if they leave them in the field.

I think I can help more with the hogs. Give me a heads up when you make it out this way. It would be nice to at least have a few beers together.
