image.jpg After a long time of no hogs coming to any of my 6 feeders and many days of heavy rain the boars are coming back. Now I needed to get the timing right hogs are coming but I'm missing them until Wednesday 1 am when 6 came for some corn.
Being very carm with my hart pounding aiming a kill zone shot, I shot they all ran like he'll yes even my target one.
Sitting there in with instant depretion, I mised. After 30 min I walk to the feeder to get my light and go home I see blood on the ground I think ok I hit it.
Now I'm tracking the trail with a flesh light not to easy after 2 1/2 hours no hog I go home to sleep or try to.
It's day light so I go back to follow the blood trail and there its lying in the thick brush, what sight for sore eyes. I'll tell you it wasn't easy dragging it out thick brush and very hilly land.

Those are big cutters for a little guy a couple of years, he would have been a trophy.

I left my hog trap over at my ex-bosses place when I left and came to my new job for him to use and he called me yesterday letting me know that this guy was in it. Bout 150lb boar, young guy. I believe he's trapped about 10 since I left. I did a number on em while I worked there. I think I trapped close to 30 and shot more on top of that in the course of a year. Kinda wish I wouldn't have left.

Thanks guys!

Frank,

Yeah it amazes me too. But even when I was working for this man I would catch hogs in the trap and then it would be about a week before I would catch any again. It would make them leery but not enough to break their interest in the corn.

The cool thing about this area is that I never caught anything but boars in this particular hay pasture.

There is a tree line about 10 yards wide and a fence about 10 ft. to my right, (the left side of the picture), even back when I worked there the hogs had a trail beat down through the tree line and under the fence coming out into this hay pasture. Well I decided I wanted to try snaring a hog, so I devised a cable snare and set it on the trail right before the fence. I checked it the next morning and much to my surprise, I had managed to snare a 175lb boar hog and he was not happy about it to say the least. Let's just say that was the most intense and brutal fight I have ever been in after about an hour I finally managed to get him thrown and tied and drug him back to the gator.
