State of the forum address.

Howdy guys, I have left this place on auto mode and did my best to block new members just to stop the advertising and scam bots. I let a few bad seeds ruin it for me for a while. Right now I can’t remember and do not have the time to update everything here, I am going to have my website guy look at it and try to open the place back up. I’ll be more active myself I hope.

Well I shut down new users to stop the spammers, there are a little over 4,000 new members waiting for approval.

I've been deleting (on average) 4 Russian or Asian spammers per day the whole time. So, it's not exactly just been auto-pilot. LOL I notice that the site is not "secure" (https). I wonder if that is part of the issue?

They appear to have been capable of registering through a back door and we not appearing in the "registered members" as new.

The ones who DID use the front door were a little easier to catch. The others, I just had to get lucky to find them online.

Well that sucks the forum needs to be updated about every 6 months to stop them it has not been in a year that will hopefully change soon.

It would also be helpful to have a tool added which would enable us to ban a domain name, not just individual accounts associated with a domain. I'm seeing a dozen/day from two Russian domains.

Total of 2.5 hours today, we're at 28 dead spammer/phishers. And, I'll be away from my computer for at least three hours before mid-day.

These are ALL Russian... (ok, possibly Socials Democrats from Seattle... same difference).
