So I have had trail cams up over bait for years. Very rarely have we seen anything to do with hogs. Well this year we put out a lot of bait on our food plot area. We got hogs over 2 nights. The date is off by a year. Forgot to fix it when I changed batteries. Now I’ll have to take a week off and sit over piles of corn and hope to see something

Couple of healthy lookin' oinkers there. Both in need of a hot lead injection.

Sadly they only stick around for a day or 2 and then are gone. I went back to 3 other years I saw hogs on cam and it’s always beginning of April. And I’ll get 1 picture then nothing else. I asked the neighbor who baits all year and he said he sees the same thing. They are around for a day, only 1-2 of them and then gone

Think - -> food,water,shelter.
Also conservation. Kill what is needed to maintain your desired heard. "Kill 'em all" is a ridiculous philosophy in your situation.
Here in NW Fla. we MANAGE our sounders. We don't strafe 'em. We do not wound them and let them run.
Just being out to hunt keeps our hog population in check. Farmers are pleases with the job we do.
We are older,we actively hunt,we have fun,we have all the pork we can eat.
YMMV. ---- pruhdlr

the reason I want to get out there is to fill the freezer. Only having hogs for a short time where I’m able to hunt makes it hard to get pork in the freezer

Understood sir.
Put out some long range scent sorta stuff. Fermented corn would be a great place to start.
5 gal bucket,filled about half way with dry corn. 1 or two cheap beers. Dark beer is best. 1 pkg yeast. Fill to about 4 inches of the top with water. Seel top. Leave in direct sun for 4-7 days.
Dump in shallow hole in front of game camera. The more stink,the longer range it has. You can also throw in a can of cheap wet cat food. ---- pruhdlr

There are places the hogs just don't stick around. And they do some migrating in areas it seems the same scenario every year in places like you have there.

I’ll make some up after deer season. I can go up one weekend and dump it, make up a few more buckets and leave them for a week and then go back up for a week of hunting. Guess I’ll have to get a trail cam that sends me pictures

it sure seems like they just pass through for a very short time on their way to somewhere else. I am hoping I can keep them around just long enough that I can drop a couple and fill the freezer. After that I can stop baiting for months and hope they go away lol

Checked all my trail cams this past weekend. No hogs since the last trip up. Deer are getting big though
