I was trying to write something, but I did the pics and then there was no room for it. My computer skills are still lacking.
I cheated and drove my Gator around the perimeter of this 400 acre ranch instead of hoofing it, it is a swampy mess right now so the buggy was the best way to go. There is about 100 acres of creek bottom and it is thick and tall with these rains. I spotted some hogs running from my engine noise and one stopped just long enough and with part of her showing through the branches and brush and was able to sneak a shot off. Entered high right side angled sharply away and ended up in her jaw I think, I didn't stay long as I went after the rest of the group on foot but never caught up to them.
I had hogs run across in front of me a few times, it's a makeshift road with weeds, on either side is thick woods. So you don't have time to get a shot off unless you were sitting with the gun up.
The one time I went after a big hog that crossed it looked like he was headed towards a big pasture so I tried to get ahead of him but I got sidetracked when I saw a couple coyotes out in the field at about 200 yds. I haven't shot the 458 that far as most of my shooting is 10-50 yards at best. well, I missed high and missed high again and again. Dang coyotes were costing me money now. lol They split up and 1 was running straight away and I shot about a foot low and ended up dropping the thing but he was far from dead, squealing and yapping and flopping so I had to walk out and put 2 more in him. So I don't know why it was shooting so high, I better go check my scope again. Anyways, I should have had more hogs and 2 dogs but that is how it goes, it was a fun evening, sun, rain and crazy high humidity.
