Sow Double Plus One

With the storms blowing into SE OK last night, I wanted to get out ahead of them and check for hogs in a couple of places. Unfortunately for me, I got out a bit too late and the lightning was already here by the time I got into my truck.

So I went to two of the closest places. As soon as I pulled off the highway into the second ranch, I dimmed the lights and stopped. I then spent the next minute getting my gear together and fired up the thermal on my rifle before walking around the front of my truck and down the lane to the pasture. I thought I heard a pig grunt, but ignored it as you always "hear" animals you are hunting.

To my surprise there were three hogs right in front of me at only 20 yards when I cleared my truck! I didn't even take the time to set up or NUC (correct) my thermal. I simply hit record and fired as soon as two hogs lined up. They dropped, and I managed to hit the third twice before it got too deep in the greenbriars.

To date this is my fastest hog hunt, and shortest distance dragging a carcass!

That will get your heart pumping! Good job on the double. I seldom get a pass through with the SST's. Gonna try it when I get the chance though.

That’s excellent! Next you’ll be training them to get in the truck! Very nice short hunt.

Great double and good shooting all around. I see why you didn't want to get pictures of #3, if the briars didn't get you the barbed wire surely would have.

I don't get a ton of pass-throughs either, but since the first hog was only 115lbs I guess that helped.

Beautimous!

That thar's a lifetime hunt.

You did a lot of small things well to be ready to earn that "lucky" double...

The backstop dog seemed to be a lot deader than the front - probably caught five pieces of shrapnel instead of just one.

Re the "un-NUC-ed" initial image...

GudGawd, we're spoiled. If someone showed us a crappy NV screenshot of a hog in crosshairs 15 years ago, we would have been thrilled.
