Armasight extended battery

i have the armasight extended battery and the wire connection to the scope has broken. How hard or can you replace the vertical connector with a 90 angle connector if they make one. I submitted a rma, I hope armasight will fix it. Im trying to get a plan b if they won't.

Thanks
Russ

i asked the same thing here when i was a rookie. there's a guy here named albequirky dave who builds cables. no one will mention his name cause he's banned. not knowing any better, i said his name once and was immediately stripped of all my banners and now i look like a purple fag... so proceed here at your own risk.

he's also on the 6.8 forum and goes by the name of hobo or bozo or something like that.

I just made my own cables. Somewhere on here are pictures

question: i wasn't paying much attention, so perhaps you could tell me just for information purposes... did you have any banners BEFORE you said the word 'elkbow"

rUSS CAN YOU HELP

Russ can you put me in touch with whoever made your cables? I have the same setup and I'm in desperate need of better cables.

I don’t have a phone # or anything like that. But i know he still hangs around the 68forum. You can message him over there his screen name is elkbow. If you don’t have an account you can sign up for one and then just message him.

Thanks for the info provided above guys. I too have ran upon some issues with a broken cable at this time and hope that the info included gets me some assistance in a fix for my problem. Armasight could have gone the extra length to put a little larger gauge wire in these cables for the amount they are charging in my opinion.

Chad, where you located? I think I still have a couple connectors in the gun room. I could probably find the schematic for the connector/cable

Got this from the forum here when I made my own cables several months ago. I think Elkbow posted it.

The top picture is the socket connector, the bottom picture is the pin connector

I created a cable using this info for the pinout and found it to be mostly helpful but missing info. I was wanting to not only create an extended battery, but to also have the video in and out work as well. The Armasight DVR I have was a freebee and the sales rep said it was a prototype. I bought the Zeus 336 almost 5 years ago so I'm not sure if it's wired the same as everyone else. The main thing I learned for my situation was that pin 4 (yellow) had to be shorted to pin 5. I'm not sure why, but after I saw the short in the factory cable connect and I tried it, it fixed the video runaway issue I had and now all is good. I can try to upload a pic of my schematic if anyone is interested. I used premade 8 pin connectors from Binder Corp and a rechargeable powerbank with a DC step up booster. I had to put a capacitor across the outputs to keep the video image from rolling because of noise.

I'm interested in the schematic. The connector's I bought from Binder I had to solder the wires on my shelf. Also the capacitor info as well. I've made a few cables for myself and friends but the video's are almost always missing part of the cross hairs .

Interesting way to do it. I'm using 2 ea. 18650s to power mine with a step down (buck) converter. Video works fine didn't have to wire in any capacitors or short any connections or anything. I was using a rechargeable power bank before and it worked fine but the scope always showed low battery and every now and then when I NUC'ed the image would turn to crap and I'd have to NUC again to fix it.

I'm new here and haven't quite got a handle on uploading and commenting at the same so don't mind me. *******UPDATE. I MADE ANOTHER CABLE AND REALIZED I FORGOT TO SHOW THE CAPACITOR IN THE WIRING DIAGRAM. I USED A 220 uf AND PUT IT ACROSS THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE THAT CONNECTS TO THE 6.0VDC SOURCE. WITHOUT THIS, I GOT A BLUE SCREEN UNLESS THE DVR WAS ON.

Sorry it's such a mess guys. Notice the DVR. It's the prototype they sent so I don't know if my schmatic will work in your case. My DVR uses a Binder Corp plug.
The factory cable that came with my Zeus was only meant for an external battery and video out to a monitor only. The problem with that is I cannot see on the Zeus display what the Dvr status is. I made the cable shown to feed that monitor signal back into the Zeus so I can see when it was recording and the timer. I haven't quite figured out a better mounting option but this works for now. The power pack is 5000mah and can be recharged with a micro USB. Its 5volt output was not enough to start my Zeus. The step up booster shown worked well but I needed to put a light bulb as a load to keep the power pack turned on so I can safely adjust the output voltage. Once the voltage was set, I disconnected the bulb and wired in the Zeus. I have another DIY power pack thats square and uses 18650's. This as a battery pack only would eliminate the booster and capacitors but I would need to remove the batteries to charge them. Simpler solution for sure.

If you get LiFePO4 batteries in the 18650 instead of the Li-ion, you wont need the step down converter. LiFePO's are only 3.3volts after a rest from charging. Two in series is just about perfect for the Zeus. Be sure to only use the LiFePO4 charger not the Li-ion charger which outputs at approx. 4.7 volts, too high for LiFePO's. The LiFePO charger output is 3.6 if I remember right.

FWIW, T.N.V.C. is supposed to have an extended battery pack for legacy Armasight thermals soon. They showed it at SHOT.

In the meantime, someone off of this board built me a cable for my Zeus. Currently trying to rig up a flashlight mount to work to hold the battery.

Guys,
Anyone know what type of plug comes with the Armasight zeus? I thought if I ordered the male 2.1mm x 5mm, i could attach to the split cable that came with my scope, but it doesn't quite fit.
The one on the bottom is the plug that comes off the cable that came with the zeus. The two on top are ones that came with an external batter pack i was testing and then some leads i ordered (2.1x5mm).

I need the male version of the one on bottom.
