...A piss poor example of hog removal.

I absolutely made a rookie mistake last night and left the house without a full mag. Came across the sounder of hogs that visit the SW corner of the ranch last night and got set up on them.

My opening shot was effective but follow-up shooting was not doing very well. I missed on several of my opening shots, when I suddenly felt the bolt hold open. Thinking I had a malfunction I quickly turned my headlamp on and checked the chamber...empty. So after a few choice words I watched as the remainder of the piglets trotted off.

However they stopped for a bit, so I gave pursuit. I caught up to them and switched from my thermal to my headlamp again. That got them going, but I did manage to hit one on my first shot. That stopped it long enough for a second bullet, and then I was able to walk up and finish it off.

I finished with four. Should have been more. Lesson learned the hard way.

'DOH !!! We hate it when the mags aren't full ! Stealing Brian's thunder are ya? He's the mule-footed hog killer 'round these parts. He been slackin' on killin' us some-o-dem though. Pistolas make for a good plan-B, good use of the back-up. Good killin'.

    Well, that worked out nicely!

I really do think more people kill mulefoots than realize it, but they never check the feet. Ya done good!

    Hey, not bad results overall!
I'd write more, but I feel a sudden uncontrollable urge to go check my magazines and make sure they're all fully loaded…

If I could invent a"digital gas gauge" that fit on the side of the receiver that showed ammo levels, I'd be a thousandaire! Still worked out well, kudos.

That's one reason to always carry a spare magazine.
