Now I have a treaspasser caught on camera. This gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing someone is wondering around on my lease while I'm hunting at night. Unfortunately the picture is not clear enough to identify the person. They are clearly carrying a shotgun though.

Second picture, person must have been walking at a brisk pace. Can someone identify the card on the persons neck. It seems to have a distinct stripe on it. Guy may have been on public hunting ground then decided to check out my lease after dark so the card could be a hunting license or something.

I'll keep an eye out for this guy in the future. What should I do if I catch him??

Sorry to hear about/see your dilemma. For me, if someone is trespassing where I'm hunting, then he or she is on my land and it will be a bit of a confrontation (also the reason why I don't hunt suppressed and talk to my neighbors about thermal hunting...I want people to know that I'm out there).

For the legalities... I'd check the local laws and consult with the game warden. You don't want advice off of the internet for a subject like this. Going to jail for what leads up after a confrontation on a hunting lease just isn't worth it man.

I do hope he/they get caught though. Best of luck.

You’ve been put in a tough situation, compadre.

I concur with the previous advice regarding caution and restraint. Reporting the photos to LE has no down side.

Perhaps a metaphorical warning shot off his bow...

Consider posting a sign (NOT near the camera), on his path or entry point informing him that is presence has been noted and reported. Mentioning the shotgun and neck badge would lend credibility and persuade him to move elsewhere...

    Best of luck.

In FL even when caught it's a slap on the wrist. Poachers just a few weeks ago guys truck found on the road and they got off the property b/f anyone could catch them. For them getting a fine is well worth the risk. The theft of stands, feeders and cameras is the real bitch though that gets wicked expensive. These types of people they don't respect property rights of any kind. Of course these same jack offs would likely shoot you dead for stepping 1" over their fence line, but it's ok if they steal your gear or shoot your deer. I'm not going to get shot or shoot someone over sneaking on a lease it's just how the world is and part of the deal. Mind you we have LE 5 minutes from us. That's how ballsy these poachers are that and they know they get a slap on the wrist.

If I found their truck, and I was certain that belonged to someone poaching/trespassing, it would be hard to resist the urge to let the air out of at least one tire.
Maybe one tire the first time …

If all four tires are slashed, their insurance covers it. Remove the core on two/three valve stems and hand them to him later. LOL

Just so everyone knows: In Florida: Trespass while in possession of a firearm is a felony punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and/or a fine up to $5,000. Likely depends on priors.

It might be best to avoid immediate confrontation. I'd just tape them to the driver's side window …

One of the guys I hunt with sent that to me a few years ago we still howl over it. Cannot imagine how badly one would shart themselves. Just Sunday night was walking to check a field nice cool evening and have a ball looking through thermal and 'poooof' a white winged dove flew out of a palmetto like 2 feet from me right in front of my face about had a heart attack.

“A white-winged dove”? Ooh baby, ooh baby, ooh...

As Brian notes, there are consequences to content posted online.

I humbly remind my forum friends as they comment to remember that the future is uncertain, the legal system is not always reasonable, and the internet is forever.

Yep! I remember catching up on that when it originally happened several years ago. I can't remember exactly what the penalty was, but if my aging memory serves correctly, there was a small fine as well as a reimbursement for damages to the trespasser's rifle. I could be wrong though.

It's a big NO-NO to set any kind of booby trap. No matter how much the perpetrator deserves it.
