Some videos explaining the purple glow for IR lights

Keep in mind the glow will be a darker red, and not as bright as the camera picks up.
But with your eyes night adjusted and adding IR passing filters the glow won't be changed.
As dim as it will be it will pass thru the filters because it is IR light. So save your money on filters they won't reduce the glow. Now if you add neutral density filter to darken everything it will reduce the glow and the amount of IR light as well. If you cut the glow by 1/2 then the power will be cut by 1/2 as well. I switched to a 940nm light as it has less visible glow. But thermal has no glow and the critters have no clue you are watching them.
