I took my 18" *** to the range today. I started off loading 1 round at a time just to get it sighted in. it would not lock back the bolt most of the time. even with that i got it shooting 1" groups at 50 yards. took it out to 100 and dialed it in a little tighter. shot perfect. then i loaded about 15 rounds to test again. It would not strip off the next round. i had to load each one manually. I was shooting 110GR V-Max with 22.5 gr of IMR-4198. any ideas?

Lets see, that is a rifle length gas system and you have a gas issue, where is it ejecting?

My guess is that it is a mag issue.

Let me restate. It could be a mag issue and checking a couple of different mags is an easy thing to check.

I have never had a mag issue w 6.8 but I use ASG and CPD mags...I always get mixed up on over or under gassed.

i pulled the gas block and the powder residue is almost perfectly around the gas hole

i have a post over there too. someone said powder might be the problem. im going to try some 2200 and see what that does. i hope thats all it is. i don't want to start testing so many parts to see what works. only thing i have i could change right now is the bolt carrier. i have 3 different ones.

I have a heavy buffer here. Got factory ammo? you always want to start with that before your hand loads.

QL shows 26 grains with 2.90 OAL. May be a little warm would start at 24 and work up. QL has been pretty accurate for the 6.8 and the .458 SOCOM with slower powders. Fast powders like 4198 and LilGun is pretty warm at max load.

I'm going to load some up tomorrow and see what I can do. I'm hoping it's just an ammo problem
