Pulsar Line Up changes ?

At SHOT we heard the Trails were going away except for the LRF models all to be replaced by the thermions. When pressed as to why the non-ergonomic design of the thermions, we were told "Euro-hunters requested thermals that look like day scopes" ... my jaw hit the floor :D

We forgot to specifically ask about APEX units. But I'm seeing APEX units drying up ... and so worry we can no long get them. Is Pulsar really getting out of the sub $5k space for thermal scopes ?? If so, seem like this would set the thermal market back. I remember back in 2012-13 when I was first looking to get in, the ATN Thors low end were $6k ... are we going back to decent thermals starting over $5k ??

Any one have any data to share on this topic ??

Thx !

Could be wrong but I think the new 320 resolution 12 micron scopes will be a pretty great value thermal. Smaller germanium lens will save $$, more zoom, equal or better image, similar features of the trail line, similar prices to to trail 384 line for the given native zoom models comparatively.

I believe they will be based on the new 12 micron sensor. The Thermion should be competing with the FLIR PTS233. Do we know anything about the pricing on the units yet?

The 12 micron 320 resolution Thermions (XM30, XM38, and XM50) won't just be competing with the bottom of the line FLIR PTS233, but the entire but also the PTS536 and PTS736.

Pricing is already posted by several vendors for the Thermion units.
