Been seeing "Big Momma" on the gamecam for a week or so. Got'em patterned best I could and pulled a night shift in the climber. It spit rain and was very muggy. Sat there for 4 hours and finally got tired of the rain, humidity and skeeters. Been hearing hogs all over the woods but nothing in sight. Climbed down, dismounted, scratched, farted, cursed the evening and my current heart issues in general. Turned for that last look at the corn pile with the REAP and saw 2 pig-shaped white billboards sauntering in. Being in a cheeky mood I let fly with a couple in their direction with the 6.8 so they'd know I still loved'em.
Didn't check for any sign. Just too worn out and short of breath from this ablation. Dreading the .25 mile uphill hike over lap piles and rutty roads in the dark. But I knew I had to have hit the first one anyways.
Came back the next morning and swept the place. What sign the rain didn't wash away the other pigs took care of. Bubkus.
Came back yesterday to refill the corn pile and had the turkey buzzard buffet goin just 25 yards from the site. I hadn't walked far enough downhill. With 80ish degree daytime temps she was gettin ripe quick. But this ain't Big Momma. This is one of the senior aunties. Best I could measure in her condition she's 4.5' snout to butt cheek and her body is 26" tall behind the legs with a couple knocked off for poofage.
Any ballpark ideas what she may weight? Biggest I've shot was 210 and this girl was wayyy bigger.
The next day I ended up bagging a nice 12 point. Outside of being short of breath a lot it's been a glorious 4 days at the hunt club. d:^)

For now. I think in the bottom pic the one with it's head in front of the tree is the one I shot but can't really tell if it's boar or sow. Big Momma has that humped back and shorter/wider face.
But can't say that I'm sure about any of that, really.
Either way they're some danged big hogs for this area. d:^)

I see the 90gr gold dots did the trick for you Scheenky. Great job! I'd rather shoot a nice buck than a big pig any day.

I hafta say I've been impressed thus far with their performance.
I've got a coupla other firearms I wanna try this season but as it stands Momma's 6.8 is my goto.
Wish I had a way to guesstimate her weight (the hog, I mean). d:^)

She definitely would be close to 1/8th of a ton.

    Gud luck mammoth hunting.

And consider keeping a tape in that blind...
