Those cats are so stealthy. It's only a matter of time for me to kill one now. No hiding from thermal.

Last year during elk season I brought along the thermal, was fun seeing what was lurking in the dark. Where I elk hunt has one is the highest populations of mountain lions in the state.

I see elk and deer. I've only seen s few mountain lion.

One year we had a fresh snow overnight and I was out calling coyotes and fox. There was 3"of fresh snow on the ground. I hiked back in a fewhundred yards in to a wooded area with a lot of trees and rocks. I called for about 20 minutes hoping to bring in a fox. In the way out I found a fresh set of lion tracks where it crossed right over my tracks, it was circling to get the wind in its favor.

That was scary lol.

I've seen three lions while hunting but never got a shot. I figure it's because I'm always moving. May try to be a little more stealthy this winter and get one!
