Morning Grasshopper Patrol

This old Hen is doing a pretty good job with her little ones.
Although the group originally started with 14 or 15 chicks, nature has taken it's toll.
The group is now down to 10 little ones and Mom!

They stroll right by my house a couple of times a day, early in the morning going to the stock tank and again later on headed back to the deep woods to spend the day.
They usually fan out a little more and cover a strip about 20' wide, grabbing all the grasshoppers they can.
In the video, you can see the hoppers jumping ahead of the pack.

The grasshoppers are incredible this year. They are EVERYWHERE around my place. I can't drive without the front of my truck turning green with grasshopper goo! Good video.

It's like a wake of hoppers in front of you as you walk. It's amazing and totally EFF'd up at the same time.
My friend said he needs bails now cause the hoppers had destroyed his field. And he only has 8 cows.
Too bad cows won't eat hoppers.

I can't remember when the last time was that I saw grass hoppers in Seattle... but, this year, BRIGHT light green ones in my yard. Homie ain't eatin' 'em either.

Yeah, riding in the golf cart can be dangerous.....
If you are zipping along at speed in the kart, one of those hoppers can hurt pretty good!
Worst crop I've seen in a few years.
