So my brother and nephew bought a piece of property to bow hunt elk near their home in Bozeman, Montana.

that is a eat your a_s bear. big one. Since it has that hump on neck/shoulder does that make it a male?

The hump just makes it a Grizzly, not sure but it looks like a big male.

Definitely a Brown (Grizzly) Bear. The hump defines it. Another characteristic are the long claws. A "Black" (regardless of color) Bear has no hump, and has shorter/more curved claws. A Black Bear's ears will stand more vertical than a Brown's will. And, a black bear's snout will generally be longer than that of a Brown's
